Connecting Your Samepage Account
All users can connect third-party apps to Samepage through our Zapier integration. When you connect an app to Samepage, you can automate updates to any Team, Team Chat or Page Chat you choose. With Zapier Integration you can have the "Zap" create a new team Page, create a new Team, create team Tasks, or it can post to Page Chat or Team Chat. This enables each team to stay informed of events that matter to them, without having to leave Samepage.
Something to know before you start:
Connecting apps in Zapier is called "making a Zap." It involves two components: a Trigger to start and an Action to perform. For example, if you want to be notified of new survey responses, SurveyMonkey is the trigger app and Samepage is the action app.
Note: Currently, you can only select Samepage as an action app. Here are some examples.
Once you sign up for Zapier (it's free!) you're ready to connect your Samepage account.
1. In Zapier, select "Connected Accounts," then enter Samepage in the [Connect a new account] field.
2. You'll see a pop-message to log in to Samepage. Confirm that yes, it is you.
3. If you belong to more than one organization, select the organization you want to connect.
4. Allow Zapier to connect with your Samepage account.
5. Optional but recommended step: Select "Test" to make sure your account is connected. If it's a success, you've connected your Samepage account! You can now start connecting other apps to Samepage.
1. Select "Make a Zap" or "Make a New Zap."
2. Set up the trigger by following the prompts in Zapier.
Choosing a trigger app depends on what you'd like to get notified about in Samepage. You can check out ideas on apps to connect to Samepage (called "recommended zaps") here.
3. Set up the action.
Choose Samepage as the action app, then select desired action.
To Create a Team Page:
Select the team or sub-team, page name, textual page content, and optional message you'd like to post to page chat. Be sure to click the drop-down menu to the right of each field for more options. Click "Continue."
To Create a Team (or Sub-Team):
Optionally select a parent team if you'd like to create a sub-team within it. Then define a team name and select a privacy level. Finally, add email addresses of people you'd like as team members or team owners. As the author of the zap, you will automatically be a team owner. Then click "Continue."
Once you've completed your setup of this Action, you'll have the ability to create tasks, pages, and chat messages in your newly created team using the same zap. Simply "+Add a Step", select Samepage as your Action app again, and when choosing a team location to perform your next action, you'll have the option to select the newly created team from the "Create a Team" action you just completed above. From the menu option to the right of the "Team or Sub-Team" field, look for the "Use a Custom Value (advanced) option. Then you'll be able to insert the Team ID from your previous Action into the "Custom Value for Team or Sub-Team ID" field that appears once you've chosen to use a custom value.
To Create a Task:
Select the team or sub-team where you'd like to create a new task. Then give the task a title and description. Then, optionally assign the task to one or more people, set due dates, and choose a task color. Then click "Continue."
To Post a Page Chat Message:
Select the team or sub-team, page name, and message you'd like to post to page chat. Be sure to click the drop-down menu to the right of each field for more options. Click "Continue."
To Post a Team Chat Message:
Select the team or sub-team and message you'd like to post to your team chat. Be sure to click the drop-down menu to the right of each field for more options. Click "Continue."
Once you finish the steps in Zapier, you can name your Zap and turn it on. Your team will start receiving automatic updates of events right in Samepage!
