"All of our work is in the cloud. With Samepage, I can work remotely from anywhere in the world. I've worked from Germany, the Czech Republic, and South America."
Roger Cox, Director of Operations, ReThink Media
ReThink Media is a unique nonprofit media shop dedicated exclusively to building the communications and messaging capacity of non-profit advocacy organizations, experts, and allies working toward a more constructive U.S. foreign policy, in support of human and civil rights, and to strengthen our democracy.
The organizations we serve represent the foremost leaders, thinkers and organizers in the fields of disarmament, conflict prevention, peace and security, human and civil rights, the protection of voting rights, and in redressing the undue special interest influence in politics and the judiciary.
Samepage: Hi, Roger! Thanks for taking the time to speak with us. Could you tell us about some of the challenges your team was facing before Samepage?
Roger Cox: When I joined ReThink Media, our workflows were fragmented. Some teams were using Dropbox and some teams were using Google Drive. There was no one central place for all of our communication and files. If a new member joined, it was challenging to bring them on board because they would have to be added to all of these different drives. And internally, if we wanted to find research about a certain topic, there wasn't a way to find it. In the past, I'd worked for companies with custom tools, but they required expensive IT support.
SP: Why choose Samepage?
RC: We wanted something that was cloud based and did not require IT to administer. We're a Mac office so we needed something that was Mac compatible. We looked at Sharepoint, but at the time it was not Mac compatible.
SP: How long has your team been using Samepage?
RC: We've been using Samepage for several years now. Every full-time employee has an account.
SP: Tell us a little about your team and how you use Samepage.
RC: We have 2 main offices, one in Berkeley, CA and one in Washington, DC. We also have staff in Kentucky and South Carolina. Samepage is where we bring the teams together. Samepage allows us to centralize our communication and documents in one place so that between all our staff we always have access to data, information, and things we're working on. It's part of our culture that if you need something, you don't ask for it. You look in Samepage first. In Samepage, all of our research is laid out and searchable so it's easy to find the information.
Samepage is great for getting work done together. If I'm working on a financial report, I don't need to email different versions of it to my boss for review and wait for replies. I can do that work in Samepage, and because Samepage has chat, all of the comments we share back and forth are kept with the report. It's a more efficient way to work together, and we don't have to be sitting in the same room to do it.
Because it's so easy to work in Samepage, I don't take internal emails with attachments anymore. Documents like expense reports all go through Samepage.
