We’ve been making changes at Samepage so this Tip is a little outdated. Don’t worry! There are tons of new features to help you get more done. Take a look at the new Samepage in our guide, Switching to new Samepage.
With the Samepage desktop app installed, you can open and edit files from Samepage using a local application (Word, Keynote, Adobe Illustrator, etc), and then instantly save it back to Samepage without manually downloading and re-uploading that file. Many users say, it's our best kept secret. Learn how:
Using the Desktop Client: Opening & Editing Files
Find desired file on your Samepage
Go to the Actions menu in top right corner, or simply click on the file.
Select Open in Microsoft Word (or whichever application Samepage suggests)
In the popup window, select Open with Desktop App
The file will open in Microsoft Word (or other application)
Edit your file and when complete, select Save
The modified version will now be updated on Samepage
You can even leave a Comment on the updated/modified version for all to see
Go back to the Actions menu and select History
You will now see a version history of all updates to the document, including author
NOTE: To be able to open, edit and save files using local applications, you must have the Desktop app installed. To get the Samepage desktop app, Go to your User Settings and click Download.
